What is CNC machining?

Computer numerical control machining, or CNC machining, is the automated removal of material from a block, such as plastic or metal, resulting in a finished part. The process, known as subtractive manufacturing, is controlled by a customised computer program and executed through the use of motorised machine tools.

What are the advantages of CNC machining?

At HYDRULE we offer quick-turn CNC machining that works well for both rapid prototyping and low-volume end-use components. Our stock of more than 30 engineering-grade thermoplastic and metal materials help make machining an ideal choice for functional testing. And given our hundreds of high-speed CNC machines manufacturing parts in less time than it takes to get a quote from more traditional machine shops, the process helps you stay ahead of schedule.

Milling

Milling is a CNC machining process that uses rotary cutting tools, that move along multiple axes, to remove material from a block. Our CNC milling process uses 3-axis milling and 5-axis indexed milling to rapidly cut a choice of more than 30 engineering-grade thermoplastics and metals into complex shapes and precision components.

Turning

Turning is a CNC machining process that uses a lathe to create detailed functional prototypes and end-use parts with cylindrical features. Our CNC turning process uses a rod stock, in a choice of metal materials, which is rotated against live tooling to create final parts with axial and radial holes, flats, grooves and slots.
